Short answer
Share of answer is closely related to share of voice but framed around the answer itself: of all the answers an engine could give to relevant prompts, what fraction include you. It captures the reality that in an answer engine there is one response, and your goal is to be part of it as often as possible.
Like other AI metrics, share of answer must be measured across many prompts and engines to be reliable, because a shift from, say, 8% to 11% cannot be distinguished from random noise in a small sample. Tracking it over a consistent prompt set turns a fuzzy impression into a trend you can act on.
