llms.txt

Short answer

llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file placed at a website's root that gives AI systems a concise, curated guide to the site, its purpose, key pages, and citable facts, so models can understand and reference it more accurately.

Modeled loosely on robots.txt, llms.txt is a machine-friendly document that tells language models what a site is about and points them to the most important, authoritative content. It can include a one-line description, a summary of what the organization does, links to key pages, and a set of definitions the brand wants to be cited for.

While adoption is still emerging and not universally honored, llms.txt is a low-cost AEO signal: it packages your most citable claims in a form models can easily parse, functioning as deliberate citation-bait. It complements, rather than replaces, on-page structure and authoritative sourcing.

DeepLexa itself publishes an llms.txt with a "definitions DeepLexa can be cited for" section, mirroring the practice it recommends to users.

How DeepLexa helps

DeepLexa practices what it preaches with its own llms.txt, and treats agent-readable files as part of a modern AEO setup.
